Love is like a piece of coal

This is another poem for my wife and all the other lovely couples out there.

Love is like a piece of coal
Burning as a flame
Coal is lit and then it goes
At first it looks so tame

Coal burns hot and burns long
And then turns into ash
That white brick looks solid
But blows away so fast

Our love was a red hot coal
Burning, burning, burning
At that rate, our love grew fast
Our hearts were always yearning

Before the coal could ash
We added lots of pressure
Hard work, trials, and heartache
Are a lot to weather

Red hot pressure, pressing down
With patience and with timing
Our burning piece of coal
Was pressed into a diamond

Our love was like a piece of coal
Now a precious stone
It shines so much like fire
But lovelier to own

And while hot coal is fun
The ash is always never
But our love is now a diamond
And diamonds last forever
